design resources

1st Dibs

The place to find a splurge-worthy antique or vintage item–everything from campaign chests to vintage brass lamps.

I love Anthro’s hardware options, as well as much of their tabletop items. Curtains, bedding, and decor can run a bit twee, but adorable in small doses.

Ballard Designs

For the traditional furniture lover with a smaller budget, Ballard delivers. Whenever I have a project that needs upholstery, Ballard is my first stop.

Well-edited bedding, tabletop, and home fragrances.

Burke Decor

Great selection of soft goods. Particularly fond of their Designers Guild collection.

I’d never shop an entire room from CB2, but their individual pieces and prices are fantastic. Acrylic tables, modern dining chairs, and graphic dishes round out some of my favorites from this affordable store.

C. Wonder

For adding commitment-free color to a room, the accessories at C. Wonder are superb. I love the bright lacquer boxes.

Dwell Studio

The Dwell Studio Draper rug is a classic in my mind, and now that they’ve expanded into furniture, Dwell has become an amazing resource for refined mid-century-inspired decor.

Jamie has a great eye for pattern, so Furbish is my first stop when on the hunt for great pillows.

Favorites at Horchow include their rug selection, lighting, and much of their upholstered furniture. Sales are frequent!

Jayson Home

Jayson Home is tres Brooklyn, which is silly because the brick and mortar is in Chicago. But when I imagine what a Brooklyn brownhouse interior should be, many, many pieces from this store pop into my head. Gorgeous.

Jonathan Adler

WASP chic on color steroids. Perfectly colorful accessories, great furniture collection–definitely one of my obsessions.

Great selection of stylish lighting, like the Robert Abbey collection.

One Kings Lane

One word: Tastemaker Tag sales. These are phenomenal. Their regular flash sales aren’t shabby either; some recent ones were D. Porthault linens, Michelle Armas prints, and John Robshaw textiles.

Paris Apartment

Need lucite furniture legs? What about a giant lucite doorknob? Paris Apartment has your glamorously covered.

 Rugs USA

On-trend rugs at affordable prices.

Serena and Lily

More than just a store for crib bedding, I love their rattan furniture pieces, bedding, and lighting.

Urban Outfitters

Trendy rugs and pillows, plus quirky lighting.

World Market

Amazingly affordable (and stylish) upholstered headboards, cute accent tables, and basically anything you’d need to inject a sense of travel into your space.
