The new rug and mattress are here, which has been nearly enough to make the room feel finished. My mom is flying in tonight, so I’ll send her home with lots of fabric–for shams, a bedskirt, and pillows in the living room.

Lonny published yesterday, too! I really enjoyed designing this issue, and felt a lot more confident in taking some design risks. Market spreads are my least my favorite to design usually, but I think a few of those pages are my favorite in the whole issue.

Also, we need to discuss this bird and his hat. When I was working on this feature, I sent a screenshot of the page to my husband, because his mother has two cockatoos (and two parrots). I not so subtly suggested we do this to her birds. You know, dress them for holidays and such.

This weekend we took advantage of the various Labor Day sales and bought a mattress and new rug for the bedroom. The room is so close to being finished now–just need to get some photographs framed and new shams!
