I’ve always collected inspiring type specimens, but now it’s taken on a new importance. Since I’ve taken the lead as designer for Lonny, finding just the right type for our features is my obsession. They have to make sense for the feature and the publication, which is a tricky balance.
This is a glimpse at what I’ve been going back to as inspiration. The most important thing I’ve learned about design, and this applies to all creative fields I feel, is that you’re only as good as the obscurity of your sources. It’s just a matter of training your eye.
