This was my biggest takeaway from journalism school, specifically the PR courses I took. There’s so much bad PR out there, but one thing to know is this: if you messed up, say you’re sorry. Because if you don’t acknowledge a screw-up, the news cycle or the talking heads of your industry (and they’re always out there) will tell your story for you. And you don’t want that.
So, if you have to eat shit for something you did or said, you might as well eat it all at once, instead of tiny lumps of shit for weeks on end. No one wants that.
